The Exploratorium after-school program, a 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) housed at The Learning Community, operates year-round and includes a four-week summer session. Serving students in grades K–8, the program places a strong emphasis on STEAM-based activities that inspire curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. With 84% of our students coming from low-income households, we are committed to providing access to high-quality enrichment opportunities, including health and wellness education, targeted academic intervention groups, homework support, recreation, and mentorship. Middle-grade students also enjoy the chance to participate in team sports such as soccer, building both athletic skills and teamwork. Every aspect of the Exploratorium is designed to honor diverse learning styles and nurture students’ social-emotional growth, ensuring they have the tools to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
The Exploratorium program is designed to…
Significantly improve in diversifying the STEAM pipeline by the inclusion of women and members of underrepresented groups.
Provide students with opportunities to take leadership roles in affecting positive change in their communities.
Provide students with programs that are real-life and hands-on STEAM learning experiences.
Provide and foster healthy social peer interactions.
Provide a safe and fun environment for students and family members.
