  • Kristen Munns

    3RD GRADE (3A)

    Kristen Munns is a third-grade teacher at The Learning Community, where she is committed to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for all students. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education, where she was honored as a Distinguished Graduate. She also earned a dual degree in Elementary Education and History from Bridgewater State University. With experience teaching second, fifth, and sixth grades, Kristen brings a well-rounded perspective to the classroom. Her passion lies in helping each student discover a love of learning while nurturing their confidence and individual strengths. Kristen lives in Massachusetts with her husband, daughter, and son. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, traveling, and hiking with her two dogs.

  • Bethany Melo-Smith

    3RD GRADE (3B)

    Bethany graduated from Rhode Island College with a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education in 2016. She previously worked as a teacher in Fall River and discovered her love for teaching during her time as a behavior specialist, which led her to pursue a degree in education. The daughter of Azorean Portuguese immigrants, Bethany grew up in East Providence and Pawtucket. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting as a creative outlet when she’s not busy chasing after her toddler. She is also passionate about advocating for social and economic justice for all.  

  • Casey Donohue

    3RD GRADE (3C)

    Casey graduated from William Smith College in New York with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Psychology. She has completed additional post-college and graduate studies at UCLA, University of Oxford, English and the American College of Education (where is completing her teaching credential). Casey started her career teaching early childhood. She has worked in public, private, and charter schools. Casey has taught everything from Pre-K through High School. She was born in California and is a native Los Angelino. Casey moved to Rhode Island six years ago. She has happily called Rhode Island home after spending her summers visiting her family in Newport and Little Compton. She currently lives in Providence and does trivia two nights a week and is training for her fourth triathlon. Casey is a Certified Nursing Assistant and has taken and passed an EMT course.

  • Catarina Massa

    SPECIAL EDUCATION, 3-4

    Catarina graduated from Rhode Island College with a B.A in elementary education. She has been a part of The Learning Community for 13 years. Prior to joining LC , she was a long-term substitute teacher for Pawtucket Public Schools. She also worked as a teacher's assistant at a local preschool. Catarina is Portuguese and a daughter of immigrant parents. She is a mother to two boys. She enjoys fitness, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. She believes that every student has their own unique way of learning and strives to support them on their journey to becoming independent learners.
