There are all kinds of ways to get involved in our vibrant community of learners.

visit

We welcome visitors to our classrooms and our school. We consider learning a community endeavor, so we work to develop partnerships with families, community leaders and our neighbors. Our lobby is an informal cafe encouraging parents and visitors to linger and talk. To arrange a visit contact Tyson Gravier at tyson@thelearningcommunity.com

enroll

Students from Central Falls, Pawtucket and Providence enroll at The Learning Community through an annual lottery. The first step in the enrollment process is to visit the school and fill out a lottery application. We hold open houses for prospective parents every spring. To learn more, contact Maria Duque at maria@thelearningcommunity.com or 722-9967.

volunteer

There are many ways for people to become involved in the life of our school. Many of our parents donate their time as volunteers, and we are grateful for their hard work and dedication. We are also host to college interns, academic courses, fieldwork placements and volunteers. To find out more contact Kath Connolly at 722-1938 or kath@thelearningcommunity.com

Volunteers are needed:

  • in classrooms to support teachers and help individual students
  • in the office to assist with administrative tasks
  • as research interns to help with planning and fundraising
  • as Lunch Buddies to visit with students over lunch
  • to help on special work days to improve our facilities

donate

To provide the rich learning environment our students deserve we raise funds for special projects and services. We welcome financial donations as well as donations of time and supplies. To find out more contact Jeremy Giller at 722-9998 or jeremy@thelearningcommunity.com. Our current wish list includes:

  • new children's books appropriate for grades K through 6
  • copier paper and office supplies
  • a new intercom system
  • summer camp scholarships
  • industrial kitchen equipment
  • general landscaping tools
  • audio-visual equipment

Donors can also support classroom projects designed by our teachers through Donors Choose.

For other questions or to share in our community in some other way, contact us at 722-9998.
